The Wall Street Journal: Senators: If Russia hacked DNC, it’s much worse than everyday espionage

WASHINGTON — The top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee are raising alarms over the hacking of the Democratic National Committee, saying if it was a Russian intelligence operation such activity is worse than everyday espionage.

Senators Charles Grassley (R., Iowa) and Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.) wrote a letter to the heads of the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday seeking more details about the hacking, which led to the release of embarrassing emails, the resignation of the head of the DNC and a public apology.

Officials have said they expect the hacker to release more internal DNC documents in the future.
