The Wall Street Journal: Obama, Democratic heavy hitters set to vouch for Clinton’s credentials

PHILADELPHIA — President Barack Obama planned to vouch for Hillary Clinton’s foreign-policy credentials in a speech Wednesday intended to rebut Republican criticism of her record as secretary of state.

“Nothing truly prepares you for the demands of the Oval Office. Until you’ve sat at that desk, you don’t know what it’s like to manage a global crisis or send young people to war,” Obama will say, according to excerpts of his planned remarks to the Democratic National Convention. “But Hillary’s been in the room; she’s been part of those decisions.”

On the third day of the convention, Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, two of her former presidential primary rivals and other party leaders were planning to endorse her credentials on world affairs as well as the economy, as those issues take on a larger role in the presidential campaign.
