The Wall Street Journal: Father of Muslim U.S. soldier killed in Iraq lays into Trump

Khizr Khan, a Charlottesville, Va., resident whose son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan was killed in Iraq in 2004, took on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and made a splash at the Democratic National Convention.

Khan, who stood on stage with his wife, said they were “honored” to be there “as patriotic American Muslims, with undivided loyalty to our country.”

Khan next laid into Trump, saying that if it were up to the Republican nominee, his son “never would have been in America.”

“Donald Trump consistently smears the character of Muslims. He disrespects other minorities, women, judges, even his own party leadership,” he said.
