How Simone Biles has become the most dominant gymnast of all time

The last Summer Olympics was momentous for American gymnastics: the women’s team, dubbed the “Fierce Five,” won the second gold team medal ever for the U.S., the first gold on international soil, and Gabby Douglas became the first African-American gymnast to win gold in the all-around event.

While 2012 was memorable, the 2016 Olympics could be historic: not just because two Fierce Fivers are returning, including Douglas, and not just because the women’s team is expected to take gold again. It’s because this year America sends to Rio arguably the most dominant gymnast of all time.

Meet Simone Biles, a 19-year-old from Texas who nearly everyone in the gymnastics community is calling the best and most talented gymnast the world has ever seen.
