Didi’s acquisition of UberChina has brought together five ride-hailing rivals

Didi Chuxing’s acquisition of Uber’s China operations has temporarily brought together five ride-hailing rivals.

Didi said Monday that it was buying Uber’s business in China, marking the end of Uber’s quest to take market share in the country, according to The Wall Street Journal. But the deal between the two companies, which includes sharing of data and seats on each other’s boards, also brings together five ride-hailing companies in an arrangement that could eventually lead to one dominant player or at least, a shifting of alliances.

Didi Chuxing is part of a partnership, announced in December, with ride-hailing companies Lyft Inc.
