The Wall Street Journal: Clinton gains confidence, Trump stirs tensions, poll says

One week after the end of their national convention, Democrats have gotten much of what they sought: a more unified party and new confidence about Hillary Clinton’s chances of winning the presidential election in November.

Republicans, on the other hand, have seen the advantages they got from their party’s convention slip away amid controversies stirred by Donald Trump as he picked fights with fellow party members and the family of a soldier killed in the Iraq war.

That disparity is reflected in a spate of polls this past week, including a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Saturday that found Clinton and her party in a stronger position on a number of fronts.
