The Wall Street Journal: Manchester United lands Paul Pogba in record deal

The biggest offseason move in a summer of wild spending across English soccer was confirmed on Sunday: Paul Pogba is headed to Manchester United.

The deal to acquire Pogba from Italian champion Juventus is expected to break the record for the most expensive transfer in soccer history, once the deal for the French midfielder is formally completed in the coming days.

Pogba will have a medical at the club “in order to finalize his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United,” the buying club said in a statement.

United and Juventus didn’t publicly discuss the transfer fee, but a figure in excess of $140 million has been widely reported in England and Italy.
