Capitol Report: Trump wants political test for immigrants | Secret Ukraine ledger lists millions in cash for Trump campaign chief

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is expected to call for creating an ideological test for admission to the U.S. for immigrants, in a foreign-policy speech scheduled for Monday.

The Associated Press writes the proposed test would assess a candidate’s stances on issues including religious freedom, gender equality and gay rights. Applicants would be vetted to see whether they support values like tolerance and pluralism. In the speech Trump will also argue that the U.S. should work with anyone who shares the mission of destroying ISIS and other extremist groups, regardless of other ideological or strategic disagreements.

Manafort’s Ukraine cash: As Trump prepares to give his speech, the New York Times is reporting that secret ledgers in Ukraine show $12.7 million earmarked for Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman, from a pro-Russia political party in Ukraine.
