The Wall Street Journal: Rio Olympics star Simone Biles settles for bronze on balance beam

Gymnastics’ most unforgiving apparatus finally felled the seemingly infallible Simone Biles and left her with a bronze.

Sanne Wevers of the Netherlands took gold on the balance beam, edging out Biles and American Laurie Hernandez, who won silver.

Wevers performed a graceful routine with her signature turns to take the lead after Biles faltered on a front salto and later had to check her balance following an aerial move.

Hernandez was assured, springing rapidly from skill to skill, but was unsuccessful in appealing a score that left her behind Wevers.
