Market Snapshot: U.S. stocks poised for losses as Fed rate-hike debate rages on

Wall Street was on track to begin trade in negative territory Friday, capping a volatile trading week dominated by chatter about whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates as early as September.

Dow Jones Industrial Average YMU6, -0.24% futures lost 61 points, or 0.3%, to 18,504, while S&P 500 index futures ESU6, -0.23% gave up 5.85 points, or 0.3%, to 2,176.50. Nasdaq-100 index NQU6, -0.19% futures dropped 15 points, or 0.3%, to 4,793.25.

The losses came as San Francisco Fed President John Williams said late Thursday he would like to see another rate increase “sooner rather than later,” suggesting he is in the camp of central bank officials that would like a hike next month.
