Night Tube debut gives London riders a reason to be late to the party

Those bar-hopping excursions or late-night after-work commutes in London should be easier to pull off now that the London Underground — the Tube — is open for 24-hour service during the weekends for the first time in its long, storied history.

“I think it’s brilliant. It think it’s really good. I think London’s needed it for a while,” said Solomon Seisay, who boarded the so-called Night Tube service near St. Paul’s Cathedral. The 26-year-old Londoner was traveling home after 1 a.m. Saturday following a night of celebrating his girlfriend’s birthday.

“I would’ve paid for a taxi” or ordered a car from Uber, Seisay said, chuckling.
