McDonald’s recalls Happy Meal activity wristbands

McDonald’s Corp. is recalling activity wristbands, which were included in kids’ Happy Meals, because of skin-irritation and burn risks, according to a Tuesday announcement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

McDonald’s MCD, -0.20% had reportedly received more than 70 reports of “incidents,” with seven of them relating to blisters from the Step-iT wristbands. The report says there are about 29 million of the Chinese-made units in the U.S. and 3.6 million in Canada. They were included in Happy Meals sold between Aug. 9 and Aug. 17.

The U.S. recall is in conjunction with Canada.

Last week, McDonald’s had told CNN it was voluntarily taking the trackers out of the meals because of concerns over skin irritation.
