Currencies: Dollar slips ahead of Jackson Hole Yellen speech

The dollar moved slightly lower on Thursday, amid a wait-and-see mood ahead of the closely monitored speech by Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen at the central bank’s summer summit Friday.

The ICE dollar index DXY, -0.13% dropped 0.1% to 94.706, after posting a 0.3% gain on Wednesday.

The greenback USDJPY, -0.11% was at ¥100.36, down from ¥100.44 late Wednesday in New York. The euro EURUSD, +0.1953% bought $1.1273 midday, from $1.1263.

The greenback struggled for clear direction, with many investors unwilling to take strong positions ahead of the Fed event at the Jackson Hole symposium.
