London Markets: FTSE 100 struggles as miners, drugmakers pull lower

U.K. stocks lost ground Thursday, with declines among commodity producers and drug makers leading the market’s benchmark toward a second straight loss.

The FTSE 100 UKX, -0.75% was off 0.6% at 6,795.42, with only the utilities sector showing a small gain. The blue-chip benchmark on Wednesday dropped 0.5% , as shares in Glencore PLC GLEN, -4.32%GLCNF, -2.64% fell following the miner’s financial results.

Glencore shares continued to trade in the red on Thursday, losing 3.4%. Other mining stocks fell as well, with Anglo American PLC AAL, -2.11% off 1.7% and BHP Billiton PLC BLT, -1.38%BHP, -2.17%BHP, -1.82% down 1.2%.
