The Wall Street Journal: Top exec at Korea’s embattled Lotte Group found dead

SEOUL — The second-in-command of South Korea’s Lotte conglomerate was found dead early Friday, police said, amid a widening corruption investigation into the company.

Lotte Group Vice President Lee In-won was found by a passerby hanging from a tree by a necktie in a rural area about 50 kilometers east of Seoul around 7:10 am, police said.

South Korean media reported that Lee was scheduled to be questioned by prosecutors on Friday as part of their investigation into the company. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office said it couldn’t comment on details of the probe.
