Market Snapshot: Dow, S&P 500 close lower as September rate-hike prospect rattles bulls

U.S. stock futures on Friday were little changed in anticipation of a hotly awaited talk by Federal Reserve chief, Janet Yellen, in Jackson Hole, Wyo., later this morning.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YMU6, +0.03% shed 14 points, or less than 0.1%, to 18,433, while S&P 500 futures ESU6, +0.02% inched off by 1.60 point to 2,172.00. Nasdaq-100 futures NQU6, -0.05% fell 5.75 points, or 0.1%, to 4,776.75.

In a speech scheduled for 10 a.m. Eastern Time, Yellen may signal the Fed is ready to raise interest rates next month. Some analysts are sounding downbeat ahead of her address.
