The Wall Street Journal: Marco Rubio, Patrick Murphy win Florida Senate primaries

Rep. Patrick Murphy easily defeated four rivals, including fellow House Member Alan Grayson, in Florida’s Democratic Senate primary Tuesday, winning the party’s nomination to challenge Republican incumbent Sen. Marco Rubio in November.

In the state’s GOP primary, Rubio, who decided in late June to seek a second term three months after dropping out of the presidential race, easily beat back a long-shot challenge from his closest challenger, Carlos Beruff, an anti-establishment businessman who self-financed much of his uphill bid. Beruff had styled himself after GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, favoring a temporary ban on immigrants from Middle Eastern nations and coming under fire in May for calling President Barack Obama “an animal.
