AMC Theaters to honor Gene Wilder with $5 ‘Willy Wonka,’ ‘Blazing Saddles’ showings

Willy Wonka is headed back to the silver screen this weekend, and not as a Johnny Depp attempt at a remake.

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. AMC, +0.10% in honor of the life and career of Gene Wilder, joined with the distribution team at Time Warner Inc.-owned TWX, +0.38% Warner Bros. to bring “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and “Blazing Saddles” to 55 AMC theaters across the U.S. this weekend.

“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” will show at 5 p.m.on Saturday and Sunday, and “Blazing Saddles” will play at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for each showing are $5 — golden tickets are not required.
