Capitol Report: Lester Holt to moderate first presidential debate

Lester Holt will moderate the first presidential debate.

NBC’s Lester Holt on Friday was awarded the plum assignment of moderating the highly anticipated first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

The Commission on Presidential Debates named Holt to moderate the Sept. 26 debate at Hofstra University.

CBS’s Elaine Quijano will moderate the Oct. 4 vice-presidential debate; ABC’s Martha Raddatz and CNN’s Anderson Cooper will co-host the Oct. 9 presidential debate that will be a town meeting; and Fox’s Chris Wallace will moderate the final Oct. 19 debate.

C-Span’s Steve Scully will be backup moderator for all the debates.
