Currencies: Dollar stuck in a rut as investors count down to nonfarm payrolls

The dollar firmed but was held to tight ranges against the yen and the euro on Friday, with investors cautious ahead of the U.S. jobs report on tap this morning.

The U.S. dollar USDJPY, +0.21% was changing hands at ¥103.49, compared with ¥103.23 late Thursday in New York. The euro EURUSD, -0.0268% was at $1.1192, from $1.1196.

The ICE Dollar Index DXY, +0.06% , a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, rose 0.1% to 95.7640.
