The Moneyologist: My bitter sister showed up at my brother’s funeral demanding I share his inheritance

Terrence Horan/MarketWatch

Dear Moneyologist,

I have always vaguely considered the concept of karma, but now I believe in it absolutely after what I have experienced.

I am one of four siblings, two boys and two girls. I am the eldest daughter. My three siblings all still live in the same Midwest city where we grew up. My husband and I live 600 miles away. After my father died 20 years ago, my sister became the power of attorney for my mother.

Don’t miss: My mother wants to give me 70% of her estate — my sister is furious

My older brother developed problems with alcohol and drugs while he was in college.
