This teenager won $450,000 last night at the U.S. Open

Ana Konjuh, a Croatian tennis player who won’t be 19 until two days after Christmas, won the biggest match of her life on Monday night. She beat the No. 4 seed in the U.S. Open, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, to make it to the quarterfinals. She also nearly tripled her earnings for the year.

Ranked No. 92 in the world, Konjuh had made $264,730 in 2016 before the tournament started. For making the quarterfinals, she is guaranteed a check for at least $450,000.

At Wimbledon earlier this year, Konjuh lost a close match to Radwanska 6-2, 4-6, 9-7. But she won the rematch on Monday 6-4, 6-4.
