The Wall Street Journal: ‘We do not let others divide us,” Obama says at 9/11 memorial

President Barack Obama called for Americans to embrace “our patchwork heritage” Sunday in a speech on the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Obama spoke for about 10 minutes at The National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial after a solemn ceremony, naming a few victims and telling survivors, “in your grief and grace, you have reminded us that together there is nothing that we Americans cannot overcome.”

He said the U.S. still faces terrorist threats, often on a “smaller but still deadly scale,” but said the U.S. has “strengthened our homeland security. We’ve prevented attacks. We have saved lives. We resolve to continue doing everything in our power to protect this country that we love.
