Currencies: Dollar twists in mixed action as investors await Fed’s Brainard

The dollar was mixed against major currencies on Monday, with investors cautious ahead of a speech by a key U.S. Federal Reserve policy maker.

The ICE dollar index DXY, -0.05% a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, was little-changed at 95.297, recovering after an early decline. Against the yen USDJPY, -0.78% , the greenback fell to ¥101.84, compared with ¥102.55 late Friday in New York. The euro EURUSD, -0.0445% fell to $1.1222 from $1.1236 Friday.

Investors are now waiting for Fed Gov. Lael Brainard’s speech, due at 1:15 p.m. Eastern Time Monday, coming just a day before the Fed’s blackout period ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting of Sept.
