The Wall Street Journal: Agrium and Potash will merge to create one of the largest global fertilizer companies

Canadian fertilizer giants Agrium Inc. and Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. said they would merge to create one of the largest crop nutrient companies in the world with $20.6 billion in annual revenue.

Potash POT, -2.02% shareholders will receive 0.4 common share of the new company for each common share they own and Agrium AGU, -0.91% shareholders will receive 2.23 common shares of the new company for each common share of Agrium they own. On Friday, Potash shares closed at $124.14 Canadian dollars ($94.69) and Agrium shares closed at C$22.14.

The combined company will have nearly 20,000 employees and an enterprise value, including debt, of about $36 billion.
