Why 68% of Republicans think this election could wreck the economy

The biggest threat to the U.S. economy isn’t terrorism, increasing interest rates or struggling overseas economies. It’s the outcome of the upcoming election.

Or so say 61% of Americans, in a new poll of more than 1,000 people released by financial website Bankrate.com on Tuesday; this was the first time the election question was asked. “This was the number one response among every age group, income group, ethnic group, political affiliation and regardless of gender,” Bankrate.com writes.
