London Markets: FTSE 100 hold gains as BOE signals future rate cut

U.K. stocks edged slightly lower in lackluster Thursday action, as investors stuck to the sidelines waiting for the Bank of England’s latest policy decision.

The FTSE 100 UKX, +0.06% was down 0.2% at 6,6661.59. The benchmark on Wednesday ended higher by 0.1%, the modest gain marking the index’s first rise in four sessions.

Retail updates: Topping blue-chip lndex was Wm. Morrison Supermarkets PLC MRW, +7.23% . Shares climbed 5% as the retail chain posted a 34% rise in first-half earnings and said it hasn’t seen any changes in customer sentiment following the Brexit vote in June.
