The Wall Street Journal: Las Vegas stadium funding OK’d, opening way for Oakland Raiders’ move

The Oakland Raiders, the odd team out in the NFL’s Los Angeles sweepstakes earlier this year, inched closer to leaving the Bay Area for Las Vegas on Thursday when the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee voted to approve $750 million in public funding for a domed stadium.

The Raiders are still a long way from calling Sin City home though. The proposed stadium is estimated to cost as much as $1.9 billion and the plan to pay for it in part with a hotel tax still has to be approved by the governor and the legislature, as well as a supermajority of the NFL’s 32 owners.
