Does having an NFL team in your city boost housing prices?

When it comes to housing near NFL stadiums, most cities are getting sacked, despite civic promises that the venues improve economic growth.

That’s according to San Francisco–based Trulia.com, which has scrutinized housing data for areas near NFL stadiums. Multiple teams are potentially on the move, as the Rams franchise has left St. Louis and returned to Los Angeles this season and the Oakland Raiders are threatening to move to Las Vegas perhaps as early as next season.

“New stadiums built in the last decade, by and large, have failed to lift the fortunes of nearby neighborhoods,” said David Weidner, managing editor for Trulia’s research team, in a report issued earlier this year in January.
