London Markets: FTSE 100 jumps more than 1% as miners, oil producers climb

Stocks in the U.K. climbed Monday, with advances for mining and oil shares drawing the market toward a potential win after two straight losses.

The FTSE 100 UKX, +1.37% powered higher as oil prices jumped, with the London benchmark leaping 1.2% to 6,792.77. Just a handful of shares lost ground, led by a 0.4% slip in shares of support services company Capita PLC CPI, -0.36% .

Crude futures were boosted after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Sunday that oil producers inside and outside the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries were getting close to a deal to curb output.
