Market Snapshot: U.S. stocks set for gains as oil rallies

U.S. stock futures on Monday pointed to a higher market open, joining in global gains that have come as oil futures rally.

S&P 500 futures SPZ6, +0.38% rose 8.50 points, or 0.4%, to 2,141, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YMZ6, +0.39% advanced by 76 points, or 0.4%, to 18,129. Nasdaq-100 futures NQZ6, +0.23% tacked on 13.50 points, or 0.3%, to 4,828.

The U.S. oil benchmarkCLV6, +0.84% traded 1.3% higher, with credit for the jump going in part to news that military conflicts in Libya had affected that country’s crude exports.

Another supportive factor was Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro saying on Sunday that members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and non-OPEC nations were nearing an agreement that would stabilize oil markets.
