Matthew Lynn’s London Eye: Europe will regret chasing all the innovative American companies away

Billions of dollars in back taxes. Investigations of sweetheart deals. Monopoly inquires that target innovation. Copyright protection that is designed to protect local media companies. Hardly a week goes by that does not see some kind of attack from the European Union on one of the giants of the American economy.

Companies can lobby, protest and campaign against that. They can appeal and fight unfair decisions. But at the end of the day, they are also businesses, with shareholders to protect. It is becoming increasingly clear that there will be only one real solution. Companies will slowly withdraw from the continent.
