Currencies: Dollar gains ahead of Fed speeches

The dollar squeezed out narrow gains against major rivals Wednesday, awaiting its next cues from interest-rate commentary and developments for oil markets.

The ICE Dollar Index DXY, -0.01% was up 0.1%.

Investors are waiting for a lengthy lineup of Federal Reserve speeches, a reading on orders for big-ticket goods and more potential signals from a key meeting of major oil producers.

Four Fed officials are slated to make remarks, starting with Chairwoman Janet Yellen at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.

In other economic news, an August report on durable goods orders is anticipated at 8:30 a.m. Eastern, with economists polled by MarketWatch forecasting a decline of 1.4%.
