Capitol Report: Tim Kaine and Mike Pence step out of shadows to face off in Tuesday debate

Americans haven’t seen much of Tim Kaine or Mike Pence this campaign season, compared with their famous running mates. That’s about to change.

Kaine, the Virginia senator who is Hillary Clinton’s vice-presidential pick, and Indiana Gov. Pence, Donald Trump’s running mate, are set to square off in their sole debate on Tuesday night. It’s scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Eastern time and last for 90 minutes. The debate will be held at Longwood University in Farmville, Va.

Kaine and Pence, as the right-hand men to the ticket-top candidates, will almost certainly spend time trying to force one another to answer for proposals or statements uttered by Trump or Clinton.
