Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell deployed a pair of anachronisms to describe the battle for the Senate looming on the Clinton-Trump undercard:

‘[S]ort of like a knife fight in a phone booth.’

While phone booths are, at minimum, an endangered species and knife fights today seem, sadly, kind of quaint, the Kentucky Republican was dramatizing the point that his party has 24 Senate seats on the line in November, while the Democrats have just 10, and many of the races are surpassingly tight and equally, in many cases, nasty.
