Metals Stocks: Gold falls, set for 7th drop in past 8 sessions as dollar firms

Gold futures on Tuesday were headed for a seventh drop in eight sessions as the dollar saw firm gains on the back of Brexit-inspired losses in the British pound.

December gold GCZ6, +0.03% fell $3.50, or 0.3%, to $1,256.90 an ounce, while December silver SIZ6, -0.19% fell 11.9 cents, or 0.7%, to $17.54 an ounce.

The ICE U.S. dollar index DXY, +0.62% was up 0.6% as the British pound GBPUSD, -1.2134%extended losses against the greenback. The pound has lost around 5% month to date on concerns about a clean break by the U.K.
