Market Snapshot: Stock futures perk up on Morgan Stanley earnings as housing starts loom

Stock futures inched higher on Wednesday, as Morgan Stanley topped earnings expectations and investors looked ahead to housing starts data.

Wednesday also marks the 29th anniversary of Black Monday, when on Oct. 19, 1987, stock markets crashed around the world.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YMZ6, +0.24% rose 11 points to 18,076, while S&P 500 futures ESZ6, +0.21% added 0.85 point to 2,132.75 and Nasdaq-100 futures NQZ6, +0.12% fell 3.5 points to 4,823.50.

Merrill sees years of big stock gains ahead


Pat Dwyer of Merrill Lynch says the firm thinks we are still in the early stages of a secular bull market.
