Chicago Cubs best Los Angeles Dodgers to reach first World Series since 1945

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — The Chicago Cubs shut out the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 on Saturday night at Wrigley Field to win the National League Championship Series four games to two and reach their first World Series since 1945 and a chance at their first title in 108 years.

The Cubs play the Cleveland Indians in the Series, beginning Tuesday in Cleveland.

The Indians have not won a World Series since 1948, though they subsequently qualified in 1954, 1995 and 1997.

In their series-clinching win over the Dodgers, the Cubs solved L.A. ace Clayton Kershaw, who had blanked them previously in the series.
