Economic Preview: Getting economy moving again a Herculean task for Clinton or Trump

Getting the U.S. economy moving faster again won’t be an easy task for the next president.

Hillary Clinton promises to “get the whole economy moving” in part by launch the biggest jobs program since World War Two. Donald Trump vows to boost U.S. growth to 4% each year or even higher.

Good luck with that.

On Friday, the government is likely to report the U.S. grew around 2% in the third quarter. That’s a faster than in the first half of the year, but for all of 2016, the economy probably won’t even reach the 2% mark.

Now 2% growth is not awful.
