The Ratings Game: Apple forecast disappoints, but shares are still attractive, analysts say

Apple Inc. shares have taken a beating after a disappointing outlook for the important holiday season, but analysts are still broadly upbeat on the stock, calling the selloff a buying opportunity.

The tech giant AAPL, +0.51% late Tuesday reported its first annual revenue decline in 15 years, but it was its estimates for the December quarter that really grabbed attention. The company projected revenue of $76 billion to $78 billion for the holiday quarter, an increase from $75.9 billion in the same period last year and higher than the $74.9 billion forecast by analysts ahead of the earnings statement.
