Capitol Report: Clinton email case gets fresh FBI look due to Anthony Weiner probe

Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey said Friday the agency has found emails that “appear to be pertinent” to its investigation of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s private email server, in an announcement that rocked the presidential race less than two weeks before Election Day.

In a letter to members of Congress, Comey said the FBI learned of the emails in connection with an “unrelated case” and that he agreed “appropriate investigative steps” should be taken to determine if they contained classified information. The New York Times reported that the new emails in the case came from devices that belonged to Anthony Weiner, a disgraced former congressman who is currently separated from a top Clinton aide, Huma Abedin.
