Chipotle is ‘nervous’ about 2017 guidance, and analysts are disappointed to hear it

Chipotle says customer service is now a problem for the fast-casual chain

“Disappointing” is one of the reactions from J.P. Morgan analysts after hearing Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. executives speak at a Barclays conference on Tuesday. Another is “discouraging.”

Chipotle CMG, +0.46% admitted that it is “nervous about the guidance” the company gave during its most recent earnings call. The fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain forecast fourth-quarter same-store sales declines in the low single digits. For 2017, the company sees a same-store sales increase in the high single digits and earnings per share of $10.

The FactSet estimate is for a fourth-quarter same-store sales decline of 3.3% and same-store sales increase of 7.4% for 2017.
