Capitol Report: Trump’s tweets ‘speak for themselves’ as he holds media off for now

Donald Trump hasn’t held a news conference since July. But he’s tweeting plenty.

Donald Trump was due to have a news conference on Thursday but has postponed it until next month, which has Democrats and some in the media counting the days since the president-elect last addressed reporters.

On Monday, Trump said he would hold a news conference “in the near future” to discuss his business, cabinet picks and “all other topics of interest.” Trump’s transition spokesman, Jason Miller, told reporters on Thursday that Trump looks forward to having a news conference in January.

But the president-elect’s decision not to take reporters’ questions in recent months is clearly irking journalists as well as providing political fodder for Democrats.
