The Wall Street Journal: Canadian tourist among at least 10 killed in Jordan attack

An attack by several gunmen at a popular tourist destination south of Amman, Jordan, killed at least 10 people, including a Canadian woman, marking the first major assault on civilian sites in recent years as Jordan struggles with radicalization at home.

Although no militant group claimed responsibility, the shootings had many of the hallmarks of a terrorist operation as up to 10 gunmen wounded at least 27 and killed four Jordanian security officers, three policemen, two civilians and the Canadian tourist, according to government officials. The attack took place at a Crusader castle popular with tourists.

Sunday’s attack unfolded when police rushed to a residential house that had caught fire at about 1:30 p.m.
