Market Snapshot: U.S. stock market set to rise as dollar, oil push higher

U.S. stock-index futures trade modestly higher on Tuesday, indicating another session of slight gains as the market’s recent uptrend continued, though moves were expected to be muted ahead of the holiday season.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average inched closer to the psychologically important 20,000 level, though reaching that milestone—0.6% away, based on Monday’s close—may be difficult given the dearth of market-moving events on tap. There is no economic data scheduled for release on Tuesday.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average YMH7, +0.25% rose 56 points, or 0.3%, to 19,892. Futures for the S&P 500 index ESH7, +0.25% rose 6.5 points, or 0.3%, to 2,266.75, while those for the Nasdaq-100 index NQH7, +0.23% added 11.75 points, or 0.2%, to 4,950.5.
