Moneyism: Want to bet on Thursday’s Eagles game? Call this bank

To bet on football games, fans generally have to call their bookies. Now they just can call a banker.

Every time the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles score, Firstrust Bank will raise the rate of return on its certificates of deposits under a new promotional offer. The Philadelphia-based bank will boost the rate on its seven-month certificate of deposit by one basis point for every point the team puts on the board, resetting the offer after each week’s game for the rest of the season.

Dubbed the “TD CD,” the deal starts with an annual percentage yield of 0.50% — so, for instance, if the Eagles score 35 points in Thursday’s game against the New York Giants, the APY goes up to 0.85%.
