London Markets: FTSE 100 drops from all-time high as rally takes a breather

U.K. stocks snapped a three-day rising streak on Thursday, pulling back from a record closing high reached in the previous session.

The FTSE 100 index UKX, -0.03% fell 0.2% to 7,091.56, with only two more trading days left of the year. As of Thursday, the benchmark was on track for a 14% yearly gain, the biggest among major European stock markets.

Thursday’s decline came after a mixed session in Asia and after U.S. stocks closed lower on Wednesday, leaving the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.56% 166 points from the psychologically important 20,000 level.
