Market Snapshot: U.S. stock rally hits pause ahead of key jobs figures

U.S. stock futures were struggling for direction on Thursday, with traders cautious of making a fresh push into record territory ahead of key jobs data due later in the session and on Friday.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average YMH7, -0.11% dropped 12 points to 19,844, while those for the S&P 500 index ESH7, -0.21% slipped 2.80 points to 2,261.50. Futures for the Nasdaq-100 index NQH7, -0.22% dropped 8 points to 4,925.50.

On Wednesday, U.S. stocks closed just shy of record levels after the release of policy minutes from the Federal Reserve’s December meeting and a strong showing in auto sales.
