The Wall Street Journal: Senate panel to investigate potential links between Russia, Trump campaign

WASHINGTON—Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr said his panel would expand the scope of its investigation into Russian election meddling to include looking at potential links between Moscow and individuals associated with President-elect Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

Burr’s new position, detailed in a statement issued with Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.), effectively reverses Burr’s position on Thursday, when he shot down the idea of looking into potential ties between Russia and advisers to the campaign of Trump. The North Carolina Republican had said the matter wasn’t in the jurisdiction of his committee’s probe of Russian hacking, and that a special commission wasn’t needed either because a dossier describing an extensive conspiracy by Russian government operatives with Trump’s campaign hadn’t been substantiated.
