Economic Preview: Forget 4% growth: 3% would be a major feat for Trump after record drought

President Donald Trump has his work cut out for him in getting the U.S. economy back to 3% growth.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The final reading on economic growth at the end of the Obama presidency is expected to extend a disappointing trend: The U.S. failed to reach 3% annual growth for an unprecedented 11st straight year.

Gross domestic product — the scorecard for the economy — is likely to show the U.S. expanded at around 2.3% in the fourth quarter and just under 2% for the full year. The government will issue the report on Friday.
